Field Assessment of Flood-Affected Areas in Nuwakot

On 19 September 2026, the Nepal Disaster Resilience Foundation (NDRF) conducted a field assessment visit to flood-affected areas of Nuwakot to understand the current situation and identify priority areas for future humanitarian support and resilience-building initiatives.

The assessment team was led by NDRF President Regina Pradhan, accompanied by NDRF representatives and volunteers, including Manoj Khadka, Bijay Poudel, Phuri Sherpa, Anil Shrestha, Bibek Tulachan, Hem Magar and Prabin Mall.

The team assessed the conditions of affected communities and identified key areas requiring continued attention and support. Connectivity and access across both sides of the Trishuli River were identified as major challenges for the effective delivery of humanitarian assistance and recovery support.

The assessment also highlighted several priority areas for NDRF's future planning, including:

* Improving access and connectivity to affected communities;
* Supporting the rebuilding and recovery of schools and community infrastructure;
* Providing continued assistance for the rehabilitation and recovery of affected people; and
* Developing long-term support mechanisms for orphaned and highly vulnerable children.

The findings from the field assessment will inform NDRF's future response, recovery, and resilience-building plans and help ensure that support is directed toward the most pressing needs of affected communities.
